But contrast what they're doing with the gospel. I mean this is the fundamental error man makes. God cannot be reached by a tower! Man in all of his futile attempts to reach God will never reach God on his own initiative. He'll never be able to unite himself with God. Like all other false religions, what's going on here at the Tower of Babel is mankind trying to do what he can to get closer to God, but the fundamental reality is there's nothing we can do to make ourselves right with God. God must be the one to bring us to Himself. #Shorts

And it came about, as they journeyed east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. Then they said to one another, “Come, let’s make bricks and fire them thoroughly.” And they used brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar. And they said, “Come, let’s build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let’s make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of all the earth.” Now the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the men had built. And the Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same language. And this is what they have started to do, and now nothing which they plan to do will be impossible for them. There are a lot of people who live under the philosophy that my good will outweigh my bad and somehow I'll get in. Others, I'm not that bad! hell is for the people that are in prisons And on death row. There's the really bad people that hell is for, but I'm not that bad. They're like the Pharisee who stood praying. "I thank you God that I'm not like other people. They are the really bad ones. They're the swindlers, and the unjust and the adulterers even this guy right over here this tax collector. But me I fast twice a week and I pay tithes of all that I get." See the philosophy that I'm somehow in the religious realm impressive to God! But in verse ten true saving religion is all Christ! #shorts
